Never again normalize horror and cruelty.
Never again let people who embrace the darkness get away with it by claiming that they “were only following orders”.

when you dehumanize the enemy, you lose the ability to recognize him. when you decide people who did bad things in history were demons, monsters, then you become blinded by the normality of the real people who do real bad things in real life.
evil is banal. evil is mediocre. evil is that neighbor who says “if they didn’t come here illegally then they wouldn’t lose their children” while throwing a ball for his absolutely adorable dog. evil is that relative who says “i voted for trump because hillary is a crook” while baking a delicious cake for her grandchildren. evil is ordinary people simply not processing the concept that people outside their monkeysphere being killed is the same amount bad as people inside their monkeysphere being killed.
if you can’t accept the fact that the people who do genocide are as human as you are, then you run the risk of becoming just like them. because you know you’re human, so as long as you’re human you’re not a monster, so what you’re doing can’t be that bad, right?
